Laduree are my idea of the perfect treat. sometimes i'll pop into one of their London stores and just get one, normally chocolate, to make my day a happy one. Once inside its like the creme de la creme of sweet shops - everything pastel, french and extremely chic.

They have a cafe in Covent garden which is really pretty, its in the market square and would make the perfect spot for macaroons and tea before ballet at the opera house or as a break from a spot of shopping.
They would also perfect for your mum to open on Mothering Sunday in a few weeks.

Spring is upon us, finally the rain has stopped and the sun is beginning to shine. Spring has always been my favourite time of year, not only is my birthday approaching but I love the flowers that begin to pop up everywhere and the smell that starts to linger in the air.

Here are my essentials this spring.

A pair of pointed flats - having examined closely the other options, my chosen flats for this spring are from & Other Stories, if you haven't heard of them they are a great store, the younger sister of COS. so far my only purchases have been their shoes and beauty products, which are also great and smell divine.

A new nail colour & other Stories have every colour you could dream of and have quirky names like 'Estamet Rust' and 'Tiretaine Blush'. These two took my fancy..

Some pastel cashmere. Uniqlo have been my cashmere jumper go to for about 5 years. The jumpers last, they are very warm and they are sturdy. Through university my staple grey and black went through the washer and the dryer and lived to tell the tale (I would not recommend doing this! Cashmere is best hand-washed). My newer cashmere purchases however get a lot more TLC.

The first thing to do with your new jumper (or anything cashmere for that matter) is to wrap it up into brown paper and place it in the freezer for 24 hours. This reduces the pilling and bobbling so makes them look fresher and feel smarter for longer.

A new shirt. Silk or cotton here both are elegant and both are fresh for spring. Here are two from Equipment. in a beautiful spring pastel and natural white.

A Pastel spring coat. Cos are always great for coats, for any season. This Pink one is perfect.

Also get those winter boots resoled - it will give them a new lease of life and they will almost feel new again.

The breakfast club is a fairly new venture. I know I am probably way out of touch but it is, hands down, the best place for a huge pile of pancakes, smothered in fresh berries. I am a fairly experienced pancake tester and these went straight to the top.

The Breakfast Club have several restaurants/cafes all over london and are extremely popular at the weekend, people queue for hours, and that is no exaggeration. As I got to the door and the queue, fairly small (apparently) but still out of the door seemed to be a good gauge as to whether this place is worth the wait, certainly everyone else seemed to think so!

A creamy latte first, which was washed down fairly quickly before the main event!

The most amazing and most delicious brunch dish I have ever been faced with...

The Breakfast Club is a must go to. Look up where your nearest one is here.

Lunch today was bliss. I went to a little place in the centre of York called Mannion & Co. It doesn't look much from the outside, but gives you a hint of whats in store from the giant meringues that are hiding in the window along with lots of cheese and charcuterie. The window is pretty small, but judging by the queue of people out the door I could tell this little place was special.

Once inside you are greeted with rustic wooden tables, mixed platters, all decadently laid out on wooded boards and delicious looking sandwiches with garnishes of mixed leaves and olives.

The menu and specials are written on chalk boards all around the restaurant come cafe.

The tea comes in these little japanese teapots which are beautiful, and the milk, in mini milk churns which gives your tea time experience a nice little touch!

Fresh flower dusted and salt encrusted foccacia are piled along the counter.

The salt and pepper come in these little flower pots. Such a good idea for a summer garden party.

This is the 'bits and bobs' patter which is just great, a little bit of everything you could want.
Below is their 'very good bacon sandwich' the PERFCT bacon sandwich.

We finished off lunch with a latte in a rustic mug and saucer with a cardamon flavoured biscotti to dunk.

A beautiful rustic french/italian deli style cafe that is well worth a visit.

This cafe is a little slice of heaven. Every detail has been thought of and the food is just delicious. I am up in York for a few days and thought I would start my northern wanderings with this little cafe.
They do the best coffee and the best brownies.

The lights are little jam-jars which is a nice touch.

The best brownies and they change the delicious filling every day... today triple chocolate.

These blondies (brownies but with no cocoa powder) are gooey and filled with white chocolate. Not as heavy as the brownies but just a delicious.

The muffins are also great especially these savoury ones, which come with the cutest little jam-jar of homemade tomato chutney.

Today I went for the pea, pear and mint soup which was a delicious as it sounds (and looks) with homemade rustic bread.
My friend went for pancakes (she missed out yesterday!) with bacon, maple syrup and blueberries.

One of my favourite York haunts. More musings tomorrow...

York has so many beautiful little tea spots. Amongst the cobbled streets and within the city walls around every corner you find a a great little cafe or restaurant all in the shadow of the York Minster, the huge and mesmerising cathedral that towers over the city This morning I went to Filmore & Union. Yorks answer to the organic rustic/health juicing craze hitting the UK. They have a great menu. everything organic and great breads with amazing flavours like pumpkin and thyme or lavender and spelt. all alongside an elaborate remedy juice menu with an option of health shots.

You walk in and are hit with smells of fresh baking and fruit and brownies piled on the counter. if you head upstairs you are then in the little restaurant. They do breakfast lunch and dinner. Dinner is especially nice as the restaurant is small and very romantic so great for a date.
In summer they fling the windows open so the whole place is delightfully fresh and comes alive into the evening.

Today I only had time for a tea, fresh mint leaves and honey, which was delicious with copious amounts of honey.

The most gorgeous little table decorations, with the weather warming up it feels like spring is finally in the air.

This is their pistachio cake - literally divine and all ingredients organic so you can attempt to kid yourself that you can eat as much as you like!

These are their healthy breakfast muffins. Again everything sourced fresh and they smell delicious as they are being baked in the morning.

The staircase is a bit dingy and dark but lit by these lanterns, giving it a middle eastern feel.

A huge bowl of fresh organic free range eggs - I was tempted by the eggs and soldiers, but had already eaten so will have to save it for another visit!

I really recommend it as a cafe and restaurant for anytime of day, light, fresh and great food!

The Wallace collection is an amazing collection of art, artefacts and the building in itself is beautiful. Its location is hidden, and if you have wandered past Selfridges in the past then you have unknowingly, all-be-it with a little detour, wandered past and missed this beautiful collection.
Each room is full of unique furniture, paintings and so much gold you feel as though your surroundings are shimmering.
I spent this morning meandering my way around each room and finished it off with a an earl grey pot for one.

Take a look and next time you need a break from shopping, hop through the back of Selfridges, to this hidden gem..

These Japanese tea pots are the perfect amount of morning tea, and look elegant too.

A perfect little hideaway.

Every year I go to Greece, for the last ten years it has been my holiday go to with family and friends. There is something delightfully comforting about the smell when you step off the plane, the food, the sunsets, the beaches and the culture.
I am due to go for a short Easter break in a few weeks but I couldn't resist digging out a few snaps from the last adventure just to start dreaming about summer.

This boat is just beautiful, and look at those clear waters.

Greek salad at its best. Chunks of tomato, cucumber, pepper and red onion with a monstrous slab of feta... oooo so delicious.

A beautiful lunchtime view on the island of Hydra.

The view as you walk back from the lunch spot above. Just look at that blue sea.
