Arriving in Amsterdam.

Earlier this week I managed to squeeze in a city break to Amsterdam. It's somewhere I have only stopped over and I have always been keen to go back and explore the city properly.

Arriving late, we decided to head out for a wander to get a feel for where we were situated in the city. We stayed at Hotel Vondel, which was brilliant. A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the Museum district. I would strongly recommend the hotel as you could walk into the city centre, to all the galleries and museums and hire bikes if you wanted to also.

We headed out and into the canal district, the buildings really are beautiful and the huge windows on each thin building I found mesmerising.

After a good wander we stumbled across Bo Cinq, this place had been recommended by a friend and it really didn't disappoint. it is located on one of the main canals and it is fairly hidden, to find it quite by surprise on our first evening was perfect.

They serve a tapas style menu and the most decadent cocktails.

With your drinks you get a cornet of paprika spiced popcorn to share...

After a truly great start and introduction to our mini break we wandered off for some street food before heading to bed before a full day of adventures ahead.
